An electromagnetic flow meter (often called a mag meter) is a type of flow meter that measures the volumetric flow rate of a fluid using Faradays Law of Electromagnetic Induction.Basic Description: An electromagnetic flow meter works by applying a magnetic field to the metering tube, which causes a voltage signal to be generated by the conductive fluid as it flows through the tube. This voltage is proportional to the flow velocity of the fluid. Electrodes placed in the walls of the tube detect this voltage and convert it into a flow rate.How It Works: Magnetic field is generated across the flow tube. Conductive fluid moves through the magnetic field. The movement of the fluid induces a voltage (based on Faradays Law). Electrodes detect the voltage. The device converts this signal into a flow rate. Key Features: No moving parts (low maintenance). Suitable for dirty, corrosive, or slurry-type fluids. High accuracy and reliability. Works only with electrically conductive fluids (like water, acids, slurries). Limitations: Doesnt work with non-conductive fluids (like oil, distilled water, or gases). Requires power supply. Can be sensitive to air bubbles or magnetic interference.
